No peace for the wicked… an overnight drive back from Scotland for Tom and the team and a turnaround for Wellington.
Toledo de Kerser had a quiet run around the OI with a 29 dressage and the usual double clear for 10th spot and all things set for WEG… always good to have that last run under your belt!
Tom also had Watkins to ride in the advanced for Zara Tindall who opted to ride Class Affair herself… no mean feat to be riding advanced just weeks after having a baby…and Zara duly won the advanced 8/9 year old class with him. Tom, never one to be beaten, promptly finished on his dressage score on Watkins to run 2nd in his advanced section. He describes Watkins as ‘ a good little jumper” which clearly is a bit of an understatement as there were few clear rounds in the advanced show jumping today. The fact that Jonelle Price won that section on her Badminton winner and WEG bound Classic Moet would not have been lost on Tom.. being beaten by a Price twice in two days is not something that would sit easy with him!
So that is pretty much a wrap on the events for Tom pre WEG and he now just has Toledo to work with that in mind and no doubt the Brits have some training in place over the next week or so. The horses fly on September 5th and then it is all about WEG… we will keep you posted!
