Pau 4 CCI 4 star 15th October

With a beefed up track and plenty of problems before he set out Tom must have nearly had heart failure when Toleo de Kerser banked the first fence!  It was a bit odd but it’s just yards from the start, in the main arena where the horses have just done dressage and the same beige colour as the sand base…

Anyway, after that they were foot perfect around their first 4 star together.  Toldeo jumped superbly, Tom gave him a brilliant ride around a difficult track and at just 9 years old it was a quite brilliant clear. This is Tom’s third horse that he has produced to 4 star which is no mean feat and the fact that they racked up a few time penalties is not really the point.  This was always going to be about a preparation to be competitive at 4 star in 2017 and beyond and they have certainly proved that. The showjumping in Pau is always massive and Toledo is a quite brilliant showjumper so fingers crossed that they jump into the top 20 tomorrow.

Lucy posted this photo on twitter saying Toledo felt very perky after his first 4 star!
