Little Downham

Only when you have a cracking team at home can you hotfoot it back from Lignieres overnight and rock up at Little Downham in Cambridge with two 5 star horses on the Monday!

The OI class at Little Downham seemed to be the destination event for most of the British based horses heading to Pau! There were quite a few using it as a last prep run and thanks in part to the sandy soil Little Downham had been able to do a sterling job in keeping going despite the rain that has fallen in the UK in the last couple of weeks.

It was just what was required for Tom’s last runs with Figaro van het Broekxhof (Fig) and Toloedo de Kerser.  It was very uneventful with both horses posting good tests for  a 28 and a 26 respectively, both show jumped clear in what is never an easy arena and both cruised around the cross country with some time and they still ended up 5th (Fig) and 8th (Toledo).

Tom doesn’t have a Boekelo ride this year so he has a week at home with them now for some reacquaintance before he heads down to Le Lion d’Angers with Lordships Graffalo ( Walter).  The it’s all about the big boys the following week at Pau where Tom gets to close down the season in style!
