After the jog with the long format three horses Tom switched back into cross country gear and ran No Excuse ( Jimmy) and CHF Cooliser ( Eliza) in the CCIO4*S. Jimmy went pretty early and there were plenty of problems from the get go but , as always, Tom’s form of positive and forward riding made the track look like a schooling exersize. They came home clear with 6.4 time to end up in 14th spot and another good round under their belt. They certainly looked a partnership which Tom has the knack of doing very quickly with his rides and it was great to watch as most of the problems seemed to stem from backwards riding.. when you start to add strides cross country it quite quickly becomes unravelled!
No such luxury of watching Eliza as Muskateer’s electricity vouchers seemed to run out around lunchtime and the livestream had crashed but a steady clear with 21 time still left them in the top 40% of the class and ticked another qualification box at just her second start at 4 star. Eliza has proved she has plenty of speed when she needs it so with the ground firm enough and starting in 41st place there was no need to do anything but educate today.
Back at the showjumping in the CI2*L Lordships Gruffalo (Walter) was strutting his fine stuff for a super clear round which elevated him into the top 10 for 8th position. Walter is a good looking dude and he has all the attributes to take him to the top.
In the CI3*L Rehy Royal Diamond ( Bling) just tipped a rail for 4 faults to go from 11th to 18th whilst Dream Big ( Dreamy) was still climbing and with her clear went from 19th to the top 15. That is quite the rise from 39th after dressage!
So a great weekend for the whole crew and a long trip home to start the unpack and repack for Tatts. Congratulations to all the owners and also to Ros Canter who has provided Tom with three lovely horses to have fun on!
