Busy busy Team McEwen today with the three young horses in the CI3*S all showjumping first thing and all three of them moving up the leaderboard which was a great start to the day.
Bob Chaplin ( Bob) showed his class with a lovely clear that saw him ride up into 5th, Brookffield Benjamin Bounce ( Bounce) went clear to go up another slot into the top three and Lordships Graffalo ( Walter) also joined the no falters club to go from 15th into the top 10.
Out on the cross country there was plenty of action and the small but mighty field in the CI4*L class found that the course was tough and the time was tight. No Excuse ( Jimmy) sits in 4th at the end of the day in that division before Tom moved onto CHF Cooliser ( Eliza) who is on her debut British Team outing in the CCIO4*S Nations Cup.
No one told Eliza that this was her team debut but she certainly made the most of it! She is a tough, bold mare and she relished the track adding just 3.2 time to her dressage score to make the top 10. This year marks Eliza’s coming of age as she is only 9 yet starting to make her mark in the big international classes that are dominated by the 5* horses. A bright future beckons.
Sunday sees the SJ for Jimmy and Eliza while the three young horses head out on the cross country for their final phase. I think Tom must be truly over getting changed as he seems to be required to swop between the cross country and the showjumping with monotonous regularity!
