An incredible day at Burghley today that saw shocks and surprises and a huge turnaround in the leaderboard.

Tina Cook set off as pathfinder with her trusty cross country machine Star Witmess.  He is quite a legendary cross country horse but when he came home clear in time there were cheers in the tent but many underestimated what an incredible pair they are and I heard some mutterings of ” Its going to be boring, they will all go clear in time”.

Never underestimate Tina! By the end of the day only 2 others had joined her in this achievement and the leaderboard shuffled round like a pack of cards after that.  Tom and Toledo de Kerser were completely world class with Toledo jumping everything looking stunningly scopey and Tom keeping his foot flat to the floor in between.  They simply took your breath away with a demonstration of scope and power that may people thought was the round of the day.  They came home with just 3 seconds to add and the 5th fastest time of the day.

That is some round at a tough Burghley which saw Andrew Nicholson tip his first horse up at the Storm Doris log corner at fence 10, Michi Jung and the legendary Sam have their first 20 xc since 2009 and the dressage leader, Sir Mark Todd and Leonidas eliminated cross country after Leonidas spat Mark off at the Discovery Valley.

Toledo looked magnificent at the end of the day in the stables so with a rise up the leaderboard form 20th to 7th it looks good for Toledo and Tom!
