Summer finally deserted us on Sunday morning and the rain set in for the CI4*S cross country and by the time Tom and Dreamaway (Dreamer) set out just one combination had made time. Dreamer has had the odd blip cross country but today he had his ears pricked and his mind totally on the job as his relentless stride ate up the distances and he put in a very accomplished display of galloping and neat and agile footwork over the fences.
They came home a bit wet and muddy with just 5.6 time to finish in 2nd place behind Christopher Burton and yet another solid performance from Dreamer who has firmly established himself as one of the rising stars of Tom’s stable. Dreamer will be heading to the paddock for a well earned holiday now!
CHF Cooliser ( Eliza) will also be heading to the field for her autumn break having tried her heart out in the CI4*L showjumping to just tip a single rail for 4 faults and eventual 21st place. She undoubtedly saved Tom’s bacon when he saw a seriously forward one to the last and she generously took it as it was going to be pretty messy if she had put down!
Both of these young horses have come through Blenheim so well…. thanks as always to the team that make it all possible, whether its Lucy holding the fort at home or Anna here at Blenheim. It has been a spectacular week in the sunshine and a vintage Blenheim for sure.
Back to reality with an 8am dressage for Tom and Toledo at Pontispool tomorrow and time to focus on the last big ones of the season…Le Lion d’Angers and Pau coming up fast!
