Barbury International CIC and ERM CIC 3

Another superb summer day at Barbury and the results finally in for Tom’s two Intermediate novices which he ran late on Friday.  Dream Big was a good girl with a good test and a rail followed by a clear cross county which is her forte and The Magician ( Mars) also did a great test before picking up 8 faults showjumping which did not impress Tom! He then redeemed himself with a lovely clear cross country which he also loves.

Today saw Toledo de Kerser jump his trademark amazing showjumping clear before a trundle round the cross country to realign the brakes and have some fun over a 2 star track.  Strike Smartly ( Paddy) also jumped a super clear showjumping and had a lovely time cantering round the 2 star for another clear.

All boxes ticked for the big boys.  Tom then had Royal Roxeys debut CIC ERM 3 star dressage and his tactics of working her hard over the last few days worked off with the trot work trending on a 24. The walk dropped the mark slightly and the canter work a few more as Roxey got more and more excited by the occasion but an end score of 36 is not to be sniffed at!

Tom then planted himself firmly in the front row of the crowd watching the football on the big screen and the win for the England team completed a good day for Team McEwen.

Tomorrow sees Roxey’s ERM jumping debut.   I am firmly of the opinion that she will love the atmosphere so I hope I am right!
