Barbury International 8th and 9th July

The sun continued to shine throughout the weekend so Barbury was an absolute pleasure to attend. There were great crowds and a buzzy atmosphere and the slick organisation made everything run very smoothly which is quite something when you consider that there were over 300 CIC 2 star horses alone!

Joyride ( Wibbley) jumped a very smart clear round in his CIC 2 which left him right up at the sharp end going into cross country.  Tom and Wibbley left the start box with determination written all over their faces and simply scorched up the hill and across the skyline through the quarry.  A slight moment of confusion in the sunken road led to a drive by which was not so much a run out as a ” which fence?!” query from Wibbley as he just missed the question!  They hunted home with just 10 time but no doubt Tom was disappointed to leave the win behind him!

Royal Roxey is getting stronger and more confident in the showjumping every week and she just tapped out a single rail for 4 faults before a very nice clear round with 14 time to add to her 2 star CV.

Strike Smartly (Paddy) was in the ERM CIC 3 star and Tom really does rate this horse!  He also improves with every outing and they very nearly broke 50 in the hotly contested  ERM dressage arena before jumping a very good clear round showjumping over Barbury’s notoriously tricky course. Paddy was never destined to run here…I think he was planning on running up Sharpridge all weather gallops a couple of times instead.
