Tom had said he was looking forward to riding Royal Royey around her second CIC 3 star a few days ago and even after her slightly hot dressage he still had high hopes for her.
It was another glorious day at Barbury and the show jumping track was a typical Di Boddy one: tough, technical and with a tight time. Roxey jumped the first half of the course looking like a relative of Milton and then tipped both the double of verticals half way round and just downed tools! Her rider exited the ring, jumped off Roxey and handed her to Lucy without a word which was probably a very good thing as Tom is nothing if not competitive and he was not over impressed with the score.
He quickly regained his composure though and decided that Roxey could go to the Hickstead Eventers Derby later in the month! Its the sort of competition that Roxey loves and if her future does not lie with the ERM then she will be found at plenty of the “special” events that dot the calendar throughout the year!
And as for Tom’s afternoon plans? ” I am going home and I am going to watch Silverstone and hopefully Lewis Hamilton win.”. I am not entirely sure that went to plan either!
