10 horses for Team McEwen at Aston Le Walls but due to the enormous entry for the event ( over 1800 received before ballot!) and the strange way that BE have chosen to run the entry system it will take Tom until Sunday to complete his rides! Normally Tom would run 10 over 2 days but on Thursday he had to go with just the one horse, Brookefield Benjamin Bounce, which is hardly good for economics but if that’s how we have to do it at the moment then that is what we do. I cant remember the last time Tom took one horse to an event but he had a lovely time with Bounce with a 26.8 dressage, a rail and a leisurely cross country round over the great track that Nigel Taylor and his team had presented.
Friday saw Tom back with some very well trained novices, who all posted good tests before adding nothing to the dressage scores for placings. Something Extra ( Sonny) has blossomed during lockdown and his 26 finishing score was good enough for third. Spring Morning (Charlie) finished on 30 which was good enough for 7th while MHS Brown Jack finished on a 28 and was also third.
Thats a good day! Now just some intermediates and advanced horses on Saturday and the return of the babies on Sunday for the 100 classes.
