Aston Le Walls ( Saturday and Sunday)

The Aston weekend must have seemed rather never ending to Tom but he had two good days which counts for allot when you feel like you are stuck in a Groundhog Day situation!

Figaro van het Broekxhof ( Mr Fig) made his 2020 debut in March at Oasby and must have thought it rather strange to then hang at home until mid summer and Aston. A 29, a rail in the not so easy showjumping track which didn’t have the best ground to jump fences from before an accomplished clear cross country knocked the cobwebs away and a happy Mr Fig.  Cassiana de Riverland ( Cassie) is on fire this year and backed up great Barbury form with a 30 and a double clear with just 1.2 time to pick up 3rd in her intermediate section whilst Dreamaway ( Dreamer) was wowing the judges in his for a 22 and another double clear.  He finished in 7th but it was scorchingly hot section with mostly 5 star horses ahead of him and his 4 time cost him 2nd place. No one remembers who came second at Aston Le Walls so it hardly matters!

Sunday saw a couple of 6 year olds have their first outings for 2020.  Brookfield Carnival (Ted) is owned by Alison Swinburn alongside John and Chloe Perry and is a new ride for Tom this year having been produced by Harry Meade. A 29, a rail and a clear cross country was good enough for a top 10 placing on their debut together and stablemate Brookfield Braveheart ( Luke)  was the total star of the weekend with a stunning 19.6 dressage which he then finished on to win his section by nearly a full 10 marks.  That is pretty cool!

Next week we head South to Devon with lots of rides at Bicton.. let’s hope the sun shines for that too.
