4 CIC 1 star horses for Tom to finish the 2017 season off with at Aldon. For the three in the Young Horse section, Dream Big ( Dreamy), Nasdaq High ( Bodie) and The Magician ( Mars) it was a brilliant end to the year and they stepped up to nail 3rd, 4th and 7th place…not a bad haul!
Dreamy posted a 51 in her first international test and whilst she did pick up 8 faults in the showjumping she sped around her first CIC1 star cross country clear and under time. Mars posted a 50 dressage which put him just 3 points off the lead and had yet another improved showjumping round to just pick up 4 faults. A speedy round under time cross country left him in 4th place. Bodie continued the trend for good tests with a 51 which he added nothing to for a podium third place and he was also one of only 5 horses in the whole section to showjump clear. The young horses all excelled themselves.
Splash of the Irish ( Dennis) was dropped back to the normal CIC 1 star section and he posted a very flashy 42 on the flat but he did, like most of the section, struggle with the showjumping and added 16 to his score. His usual cruisey clear round cross country was as smart as ever but the star of this section was Ella McEwen who rode Dunno Fear into 7th spot adding just 2.8 time to her 52 dressage! Go Ella!.
So that’s a wrap for the eventing season for 2017 and Tom now plans to go team chasing and hunting and all the other fun things that his young horses get to do.
