Dauntsey September 29th

Mud seems to be an integral part of Tom’s Autumn campaign so its a good job that he is very much at home riding in it!  The photo maybe of the stables at Ballindenisk last week but they represent Dauntsey just as much!  Being held on the banks of the river the heavy overnight rain… Read more »

Ballindenisk 24th September.

After looking at the photos of Ballindenisk that have been posted I can only imagine that Tom’s horsebox will need to be pressure hosed inside and out!  The mud is of The Somme proportions and how Lucy Seddon is turning horses out to her usually high standard is a complete mystery! It is testament to… Read more »

Ballindenisk 23rd September

Eventing at its toughest in Ireland today!  Sodden muddy ground, hurricane winds and the stables simply a quagmire make for tough conditions.  Fair play to Ballindenisk and the Fell family for running the show as I am not sure it would have gone on over here! Joyride (Wibley) found it none too his liking and… Read more »

Ballindenisk 22nd September

A real family affair out here in Ballindenisk as Ella McEwen is also riding in the CIC 1 star and she and her buddy Dunno Fear posted a very respectable 55 in their section.  The general concensus is that it is muddy which comes as no surprise since it is Autumn in Ireland.  Yuk. Tom… Read more »

Ballindenisk 21st September.

After the luxury of just Strike Smartly ( Paddy) at Blenheim Tom was back to multiple rides at Ballindenisk but first up on the Irish turf was Joyride ( Wibley) for the CCI three star.  Tom had dropped him back to OI and 2 star level thinking he was more of a young rider horse… Read more »

Blenheim International 16th September

Tom and Strike Smartly  (Paddy) jumped a great round in the main arena in the morning to just add 4 faults to their dressage score although Tom would have been happier with a clear!  He blamed himself..as always.. but it was a huge improvement on the round he jumped last year before he came to… Read more »

Blenheim ERM CIC 3 star 15th September.

A total luxury for Tom at Blenheim… just the one horse, Strike Smartly ( Paddy) at Blenheim.  Tom loves Paddy and he did, without doubt, his best test to date at this level. Holly Woodhead was in place to give Tom some pointers and as always was a great help to have on the ground… Read more »

Gatcombe International 9th September.

No international horses but 4 very nice novices for Tom on a day that felt very autumnal with showers, some sunshine, a cool breeze and a real feel that summer is clearly over ( or what we had of summer back in June anyway). Today was Braveheart B’s day… he clearly relished showing off in… Read more »

Gatcombe International 8th September.

Making the most of the opportunity to compete literally on the doorstep means that Tom pretty much has the whole yard entered for Gatcombe!  The plus side is that its a very short drive from the yard ( like 500metres!) and the minus side is that the horses find it a bit odd to be… Read more »

Burghley Showjumping September 3rd.

After bouncing through the trot up this morning Toledo had a long wait until the top 25 began to showjump at 2.25pm.  The sun had retreated behind some low clouds but the rain held off which was a good thing and the tension was building all afternoon as the climax of the event drew near…. Burghley Cross Country 2nd September

An incredible day at Burghley today that saw shocks and surprises and a huge turnaround in the leaderboard. Tina Cook set off as pathfinder with her trusty cross country machine Star Witmess.  He is quite a legendary cross country horse but when he came home clear in time there were cheers in the tent but… Read more »

Burghley dressage 31st August

The sun came out at Burghley for Tom and Toledo de Kerser’s dressage test and Toledo looked absolutely stunning in it. Lucy Seddon had turned him out beautifully and as he cantered down the centre line there was a moment of tension when he really did not want to stand still for the halt before… Read more »
